This week we are acting the tourist in our own town. We have lived here for 12 years and there are some places I just havent visited. So we are taking the time just to have fun together.
Today we went to see some Aboriginal paintings. But the most fun was the rock climbing. As the kids were climbing (and I was trying not to warn them to be careful too many times!) I stopped and just enjoyed my kids enjoying themselves. I soon realised that it was not just about rock climbing each one was rising to challenge themselves, each in their own way a little higher, a little further, a little harder. When they got back to ground level they were victorious and we all celebrated. This is adventure!
We then went to a tree park where I realised it would be a perfect place to learn all the local trees the concept of a nature journal started to churn in me again.
We also saw lots of animals catfish and barramundi, a Jabiru, talking cockatoos and a talking crow, pelicans.
All this and it is only lunchtime! Isnt Gods creation wonderful!
Sounds wonderful. Your backyard holds lots of home schooling opportunities!!! Sounds like bliss. I'm kinda homebound right now and just wish with all my heart that I could be free to go wherever I felt led to go (I'm a VERY spontaneous type of person when it comes to learning opportunities). I try to make the most of what I have in my own yard (like getting the kids acquainted with worms and other bugs) until my circumstances change. Enjoy your surroundings!!! =)
