Daniel has learnt that his bike has speed, can do wheelies and the like So he was racing around the veranda. Next thing I knew he came in all excited saying, Im like the man in the race! I fell over and I got up and kept going and I didnt cry.
The exciting thing was not that Daniel picked himself up and kept on going he actually does that most times but the wonderful thing was for him to be connecting that to a story, for him to make character connections for his own actions.
He was referring to a story we had read the previous day about Eric Liddell. He was in a race, had the inside track, he was pushed over and fell out of the track; disappointed because he thought he would have been disqualified he stopped racing only to see the officials waving him on. He ran and ran and from an amazing distance behind finished by winning the race by 2 yards.
How this applies to Enthusiasm?
I will not give up in the face of disappointment!
I will put my whole heart into all I do!
