The sense of success is never greater than after a trip to the library. When my children walk out with an armful of books, on varied topics it is a good feeling!
Library books used to belong in the bookcase, on a special shelf but just recently I made the coffee table the centre for all library books a pile for each person. This made the room look messy so I have moved them to a little table in the corner of the lounge room- still a pile for each person. Since we made this switch, I am amazed at how much more the books get read especially for the younger ones. I am also a lot more aware of what books have been chosen.
When we get back from the library we always have an hour reading time regardless of what time of day it is. This is a good opportunity to really get into the books they have chosen.
Here is a list covering the various topics that each child has chosen
Daniel
A few story books
How to draw and colour dinosaurs
Aircraft
Nature activities and collections
Fun things to make
He has already used these books to make one fun project and has drawn one dinosaur. The librarian has encouraged him to bring in one of his dinosaur pictures.
