MONDAY
After Breakfast and Chores this morning the children all went outside. It was a bit steamy but I encouraged them to stay out there and find something to do. They ended up setting up a soccer game together. I believe Jess, Nomi and Daniel played against Josh.
Joshua and Nomi then played Battlefields with toy soldiers. Daniel watched on. Jess read a book.
After morning tea Daniel went with Dad to the Shed for mans work! Joshua worked on his Math and Chemistry. Nomi did a Notebook page on her Mouse Costume. Jessica helped me declutter.
The afternoon was free time for all. Daniel went to town with Dad. They picked up the computer, which had been repaired this made Daniel very happy! They also went to the hardware to buy bits and pieces to finish their shed project a house for Domino. Daniel spied a short handle shovel. He wanted it badly! Daddy bought it for him! Daniel was proud as punch when he arrived home and showed it to me. He took it to his bedroom, a precious treasure, until he can use it in the sandpit tomorrow. Not sure we will be able to convince him it wont be returned to the bedroom!
TUESDAY
While I went into town to do grocery shopping for our family outing this afternoon the kids had their table time.
Josh worked on Math and Chemistry.
Jess read Nomi and Daniel their FIAR story and set them up to draw a picture for the cover page of their Storm in the Night notebook. Jess then discussed the Rum Rebellion with Joshua as she didnt understand the issue at all and then worked on her notebook page.
Nomi and Daniel, shortly after starting their drawing, had the opportunity to join Daddy over in the shed to continue working on Dominos house.
We have been trying to get together with the M.family for a long time and today they invited us to join them on the river skiing. While Mrs M and I worked the BBQ the men and kids were off in the boat and having a ball. The river fun continued after lunch until a huge shower came in it was more than a shower, we thought it had set in for the duration but it ended up clearing, so off they went more fun with being dragged behind a boat!
WEDNESDAY
The children have kept themselves occupied this morning while I worked on planning and assessment details for the Education Department for 2006.
Joshua set up a Waterloo Battlefield, along with some reading and research.
Jessica has drawn a closed shape collage, cut it and made it into a puzzle.
Nomi has been constructing stuff she has made a pair of glasses and a book.
Daniel has also constructed stuff namely, a robot
Nomi and Daniel also played Lego for a while.
Dominos House is finished and placed on the veranda. The play area of the veranda is starting to take shape. Next project is to get a cupboard to keep all the sports equipment in.
In the afternoon our resurrected computer got its warm up session. I loaded a new Lego CD Rom and Daniel was so excited. Its awesome was his repeated comment (imagine saying this with no front teeth!). Jessica also loaded Sim Safari, which was a first for her.
Peter and Josh went into town to do a dump run plus business bits and pieces. The last task they did was to head to Lakeside a part of town we dont visit often and find a playground. This was a mapping exercise for Josh.
- it was unfamiliar territory,
- they were looking for something in particular,
- he had to draw in the map details as it is a new development and not yet on the town map we have.
Late afternoon Jessica helped me file my Education file. This is where I am filing hard copies of our schedule, lesson plans, reading lists, thoughts, etc. She had lots of sets of papers that needed to be put in plastic sleeves yet remain in their sets. We discussed systems for this type of task so as to not get confused.
Thanks for your comment on my blog. We were given that Judy Rogers CD for Christmas and I love it!! I like reading what you all are doing for school!
We always enjoyed “Storm in the Night”.
