I have been reading and listening to CDs and thinking a lot about Daniels education. A few of the keypoints I want to remember as I plan his day is that:
- learning is to be experiential
- there needs to be a context to anything I want to teach him.
- I need the WOW factor
These keypoints have come from Chris Davis seminar CDs.
God is so good . As I was sitting at my computer blogging, Daniel runs in and asks for the camera. Come! he says, I cant bring it. I follow him to the window where he points me to a huge rainbow! WOW!
I run and get the camera for him, help him find a great vantage point and help him hold the camera still. His little hands still struggle to hold the camera and push the button though he is a keen photographer. As he struggles along I pray that the rainbow stays there. It does. God is good!
As I walk back inside I am aware that God has just provided a WOW factor, He has provided a context and an experience! There before me lies all that Daniel needs to learn about today. A rainbow!
Hidden message for me the rainbow is a symbol of Gods promise. As I commit our plans to Him He will surely be faithful!
It is in those brief, precious, easy-to-overlook moments that learning can be so enjoyable both for them and for us. I think that I miss those moments to often or let them pass me by because I think I am too busy. Thanks for the reminder to slow down and let God write the lesson plan sometimes!
