Friday 10th March
Friday was our Co-op day. The morning started with a character lesson: Boldness. They listened to Mr Henrys story of Daniel. Then after some discussion played a game where they had to make choices to be good, true, fair and just.
Then we split into our age groups for Oral Presentations. Josh gave an explanation on how he and MA made a plane from scratch using balsa wood. Jess gave a report on a Turtle we found dead and have preserved. Nomi gave book report on the Pony Pal books she has read. Daniel showed his racing car that Daddy helped him make. I didnt hear Daniel speak but the rest of them spoke well. Joshuas was well organised but went on for a bit long. Naomi read her main part and that was a bit timid but once she started just talking and answering questions she spoke much stronger.
After morning tea we set up a maths tabloid activity. We had 8 stations; the kids stayed in age groups and spent 15 minutes at each station. Each station had the same math concept but with 4 levels of activities so the mother manning the station could choose which activity to lead the kids through. The idea of the day was to get the kids talking about their math thinking and to learn from each other.
Half the families had to leave at that point due to little babies etc but the other half went down to a Tree Park and had lunch together. Kids had a great time playing Elastics, Jump Rope, boys played tug-o-war and war games, or they went to the waters edge and tried to catch fish!
We love Mr. Henry!! We just got a couple of his videos, but they’re not near as good as the audio tapes! Hope you’re doing well. We’re still fighting “bugs” but other than that–we’re good! I showed my son where you are on the map and he wanted to pray for your family. I thought that was awesome! Talk to you soon.
Love,
Melissa
