I have wanted to use power tools (in the shed) for a long time now. A friend taught me how to use a jigsaw many years ago, before she left town but never having practiced the new skill I wouldnt have a clue now. I have a little boy that is fast growing up and he is all boy, into construction and tools in a big way. I can see that he is going to need to be in the shed! We have already started to build his tool kit for him with proper hammer, screwdriver, clamps, etc he does need a saw though. Anyway, I digress as this blog is about me!!
I have been meaning to ask a friend to come and help me use the Triton Workbench Pete got for Christmas. Today was the day! I gave firm instructions that the kids were to stay in the house, I was going to the shed and I needed space to learn my lessons! The temptation was way too strong for Daniel so he ventured out but stayed in the house yard to watch from afar!
I learnt how to set the bench up as Mick fine-tuned the settings etc. The bench has yet to be used really so it was a good thing to have a pro come in and get it all mickey-mouse! I then learnt how to cut through wood, cut across wood, do a rebate, cut across at 45degrees and even to cut a channel in a piece of wood (not sure of the technical term here!). By the time I was finished I was covered in sawdust not a sight you usually see with me! But it felt good. Now I have to go and buy some wood and I am going to build me a project!
Learning never stops does it!
