MONDAY Our Decluttering Project
Today our plan was to do our discipline studies and then get rid of clutter in our house. Josh, Jess and Nomi all did their math. Nomi had 2 pages of phonics to complete. Jess worked on our decluttering project.
We have had so much stuff that belongs to other people that today we decided it just had to go. Jess gathered it from all the rooms, sorted into family groups and then plotted a journey around town where we could cover all these peoples houses.
We piled the stuff and ourselves into the car, plugged in our new story on tape (Cattle King) and off we went. We discussed Sid Kidmans bravery/courageousness, hospitality, and his awareness of business opportunities and potential profits.
Drop off stop number 4 we stayed for a bit and had a play date (that meant a cuppa for me!). We had to race home as we had Aunty Beebee visiting later in the afternoon. She taught the girls how to twirl a baton lots of practice needed there!
Jess spent her afternoon twiddling with her blog template. She has changed the template over and learnt a few things along the way.
After dinner we tried to get back into our readaloud, I am David but the phone rang and we never got back to it tomorrow is another opportunity!
TUESDAY Jesus is my Friend
Today our goal was to get to the Library. We started with writing for our Camp Lampbook. Josh created a Powerpoint presentation travelling through the Classification Chart down through to birds of prey. Jess printed off previously written pieces and made the relevant mini books for them. Nomi worked on a two flap book showing a food chain for birds. Daniel narrated his memories of camp and drew a picture.
Then it was math for Josh, Jess and Nomi, Phonics for Nomi and Daniel. And off to the library. Before we got to the library we had to drop off a big bag of pre-loved toys for a white elephant stall this coming weekend plus two big bags of clothes to the Salvation Army. By this time we were all hungry so it was to the shops for food! Then to the Library! I think every one breathed a sigh of relief once we actually got there!
Josh pulled many history books but the one that he is really excited to have found was on the truth of King Arthur. Apparently there have been some archaeological diggings and some truth discovered. Jess found some books on Australian Bushrangers but in reading them coming home she decided she didnt really relish the idea of studying people who shot to kill so we have given that study a miss. Nomi searched for underwater animals, as she really wants to read about sea horses. Daniel found some books he hasnt previously borrowed on Space. While we were there Nomi had a short lesson on how to search for books using the computer search and the Dewey decimal system on the shelves.
But best of all today is the day Daniel asked Jesus to be his friend! Just quietly by himself. He apparently needed help with something so he asked Jesus to help him and to be his friend. Yay!!! It was so lovely Daniel asking me to come into the office as he had something to say to me and he just simply told me what he had done . Yay!!
Double Yay!!!
