FRIDAY – Out and about
Today we are going to town to celebrate A.BB birthday! So this morning it was table time to make cards for her. Then we went to town to buy the present before we were to meet her for lunch.
We found ourselves with 1.5 hours free time in town. We grabbed some vittles (as Joshua has started to call our food) and headed off to the park for an hour. This park is a new addition to our town; previously we have lacked a safe and clean place for kids to play. The kids went off to play on the equipment (Josh took his writing along so he could continue writing while he dangled there!) I sat under the shade and read a new book that just happened to turn up in the mail that very day!! As I sat there I watched the kids just playing together, there was one incident that they had to work out together, and was just blessed with being a family. I was blessed that our children dont need other children to have a good time, they are friends together the four of them and they were having a great time together, on one simple piece of playground equipment!
Since our homeschool camp where Mrs.G. showed the kids a lot of birds and gave them names etc, the kids have been a lot more aware eyes to the skies when we are out and about. While we were having lunch A.BB talked about this bird of prey she saw circling around her place and then just dropping, straight down, to pick up something to eat. We walk out of the shops and there in the car park, in front of us the same type of bird does the same thing right in front of us!! The kids were very excited.
SATURDAY
There is no netball for the girls today due to a school fete but we still need to go in as the boys have cricket. The numbers were down for the cricket, in all groups, but both Josh and Daniel had good sessions with the focus being on skills practice. Joshs group actually went to the nets which they havent done a lot of this year (as opposed to last years when that was all they did!!). Daniel has been struggling with enthusiasm with cricket for one hour but today he stood on his feet and was involved the whole time. His reward was a little play on the school playground equipment before we moved on to the fete.
We did a quick round of the school fete. I bought an old ridgy didge type writer. The ribbon was dry and I am not at all sure if you can still buy typewriter ribbons but Josh mentioned the other day, that as a writer, he would like a typewriter! So typewriter he has . The kids are getting a real kick out of it even without a ribbon!
Nomi and Daniel went for a pony ride. We caught up with friends, watched the dunking of teachers, bought sausages and lollies and that was our fete experience!
Saturday afternoon was time out for Mum I scrapped all afternoon. I am slowly working on yearly sections for each of the kids and I am nearly finished 2004. I had to work on these projects as I forgot to get more current photos printed off but it is good to have these pages in albums and done.
The kids kept themselves occupied too Josh spent time writing, playing war games with Daniel, reading and listening to an audio story tape. Jessica did a lot of reading, some time on her blog, and a little time writing. Naomi spent time making a cubby under her bed not sure about why but she was very excited about this. She also continued her reading for a while.
Daniel though had a real hard time. He couldnt stay focused; he didnt want to do anything (or rather he didnt want to do anything by himself and everyone else was occupied in individual pursuits). It was a bit of a red flag waving afternoon for me. Daniel obviously needs some help in learning to spend his time wisely and to be content with his own company.
