Well here we are and it is Friday already. I have no idea where this week has gone. We have been so focused on getting projects finished for the Ag Show as of right now when I type they are all done!!!
On Wednesday Josh headed off to a friends for a few days of boys stuff out on their property.
One night during the week we sat up and watched Whats Good for You I was surprised to see that the kids did learn something during this time and had I been more alert and we talked about things during the ads, it would have been even better. I saw it, primarily, as a science activity. The show presented common thoughts, practices or even what may be considered as wives tales, and set out to prove or disprove it. This particular episode they looked at
· does reading in dim light affect your eyesight
· do watermelon seeds germinate and grow in your stomach
Naomi has been busy creating Notebook pages through the week. She has covered topics of dogs, horses and art. She is really enjoying the freedom she now has to type on the computer (now that she is touch typing) and she has learnt to use word art and import clip art into a word document.
The weather continues to be just lovely so the kids have enjoyed outside play a lot. Daniel has created a cross-between a go cart and a supersized skateboard by folding down my washing trolley to make a wheel base and placing a large board on top so he can sit or stand. Lots of fun lots of crashes (since it has no steering mechanism!!)
They have also made a obstacle course outside and were timing themselves to better their efforts as they went around. They then timed themselves in packing it up it was quicker to pack up than it was to run the course.
We have also had to make posters for the Homeschool Educators display at the Show. Our family made a4 size posters Joshuas was on learning from books, and a hint at using the library; Jessicas was about living healthy and using the health professionals in town; Nomis was all about using colour; and Daniels was learning about space. All of these were created using either Microsoft word or Print Artist.
