Monday This week we have to work hard on everyone completing a storybook for a local book writing competition run by the library. Today the kids either found their story, which they had already written or started on a new one. Jessica helped typed Daniels story (which could have gone on forever but we stopped it at one typed page!)
The girls played some games together Numero and Boggle. Playing games together is my secondary goal for this week. Daniel and Nomi played at various times through the day with a set building and working with gears.
My third goal is to catch up with some friends later in the week. It is going to be a full on week, concluding with our Home Educators Support Network meeting.
Mid afternoon we all sat down and watched an episode of Bonanza dont think there was much educational value in that one purely family down time! After that, it was outside time where they played some commercial / economic lifestyle game I love imagination games! Joshua played war games with his chess pieces.
Over dinner Nomi and Jess started to discuss what type of history they wanted to learn. They are both very adamant that they dont want to learn Joshuas History No Way!. I think they see Joshuas history as war orientated. Jess mentioned that she thought Egypt was fascinating .so off to the bookshelves we go and have pulled the books on Egypt, Ive put in a book order and a library order all ready. Strike while the iron is hot!
I think Nomi is going to do a bit more of a study on Dogs based on some real dog stories.
Last week I changed our routine around a bit always tweaking! The girls now have two days where they are doing notebooking and/or independent studies/reading/researching etc. So it is just perfect that they started to talk about what they wanted to study.
Today I was challenged while listening to one of Cindy Rushtons mp3 presentations that the things that are on my heart to do with my children I need to make them a priority in my day. Also, for me not to get to the end of the year and wish that we had found time to do that one thing that was on my heart. I am feeling like that with Daniel and his FIAR studies. It is scheduled to happen later in the afternoon and it is just not happening. I so much want it to happen so here comes another tweaking to that routine. (LOL this routine is tweaked so much no one can ever settle into a routine!)
I don’t know about educational, but Bonanza was a favorite of mine growing up. Innocent times.
