I have been trying to describe my blog to my girls to try and give them a sense of purpose and variety of genre that I use in my blog.
I blog my thoughts and learning curves in articles.
I blog our daily journal as it pertains to the children learning.
Why?
I am on a journey of changing my mindset from homeschooling my children to disciple-ing my children. A part of this journey is to change my subconscious thought patterns and actions that have been moulded by schooling in the institutionalised way. I have made a journey from schooling at home, to homeschooling, to disciple-ing.
Schooling at home: doing things the same way that schools do it
Homeschooling: Realising that I am at home, with 4 children, and dont have to do it the same way as the schools.
Disciple-ing: Seeing the opportunity I have with my children being at home to have them in my life as I train them for their life. This is a lifestyle of living together – learning happens.
I constantly find myself assessing our days, and often my brain tells me we havent done well where my heart knows that the rubric for assessing a good day isnt an academic (school) one but rather one of peace in relationships and learning in our life.
It is for this reason that I journal our daily activities to keep in my mind that we learn through every opportunity that comes our way.
I also hope that others can see that learning is far beyond the way of things we experienced at school. I hope that others will be able to see the learning value in activities that happen in family life and to be encouraged to see the learning that does happen in their own daily life.
This is why I blog.
hi!
what a good post. That’s a good reason to blog, and a good way to look at ‘school’.
