Thursday
Today is the day of the Pizza Party!
First up though, I had an appointment with Daniel's OT to discuss his assessment from last week. In our discussions we have arrived at a programme to assist in his learning to focus. He tested with some sensory processing needs as well as fine motor skill delays.
When I dropped Jess off so she could cook for the Pizza Party I brought Hannah home so she could have some play time with Nomi. They climbed trees, carved rocks, and had other unknown outdoor adventures till Party time.
Daniel worked on some of his OT activities. Josh worked on a science experiement with oil, water, glucose and various other bits and pieces.
Meanwhile Jess was making dough and custard, and slicing fruit .. sorry – I know you thought it was a Pizza Party but this was Pizza with a difference! This was Dessert Pizza. They made sweat bread dough, spread it with red jelly for the sauce, white marshmallows for the mushrooms, pink marshmallows for the ham, strawberries for the capsicum, bananas for the pineapple, and custard for the cheese. It looked fantastic. They piped the custard onto the top in short strips – just like thick mozzarella!
They decorated the veranda, set the table, prepared a couple of dips and had some games up their sleeves. Overall it was a very successful party.
During the playtime we saw a crocodile down in the river (our friend's house has river frontage). It was a very big croc though we could only see its head. Later on we could see the effect of its tail moving – it was very big! In a sense it was all very exciting to see such a creature but then again it is in our friends back yard and that is scary! The kids were at a very safe distance making a huge din and the crocodile stopped, stayed still for a while and then eventually sunk slowly down, and then came back up and turned, very deliberately and headed straight for the noise the kids were making. That was creepy. It all seemed very purposeful, very evil, and very horrible! It then turned off and headed into the river and away from the house block. There was a short while we thought it had got one of the dogs but thankfully, the dog came running home with no cares in the world.
Who cares about the crocodile, that pizza sounds positively awful!
We thought of you often as we planned our pizza party – the girls had an invite here for you and all! Trust me, it was delicious!
