Tuesday today is going to be overfull and I know that from the start!
First thing that happens is that until last night I had forgotten that I have a Mums meeting tonight in fact I have told several of the mums that it is happening next week! So straight after breakfast time I am on the phone trying to catch most people before their days start. The kids got stuck into their chores and then went the extra mile and worked on a few other areas as well.
At 9.00am I wanted to be online with Cindy Rushtons Online Workshop. I had written up the kids schedule, they knew what to do and at 9.00am they were helping each other get ready for their nature walk. The plan was they would go for a walk, find something to draw and draw it while they where at the cattle yards, then come back. Usually this takes about 30 minutes though I did expect they would take some play time while down at the yards. Two hours later they trundle back covered in mud as they were playing in the channels as well. Joshua assured me I didnt need to get off-line as they were cleaning themselves up and knew what to do next.
At 12.30 I had a friend come for lunch. I really wanted time to talk and just bless my friend so the kids had already had lunch early and when she arrived they took themselves and their game of Monopoly down to the family room and there they stayed for the next 2 hours.
After she left I was exhausted so spent some time blobbing out in front of the TV, slept a bit, took a few phone calls I realised I really needed to prepare for the night time meeting. I headed to the office, knowing I only had about 30 minutes before I had to prepare dinner and get things rolling.
Joshua says to me, Ill cook dinner, you stay in here and prepare! What a blessing. He was really keen for it to be a Chiefs Surprise but with things going crazy in my head I couldnt really deal with that so we arranged together what the menu was, nice and simple: pasta and sauce!
Just before Dinner I called my children together and told them how I appreciated that today has been a very full day, that they have looked after themselves and looked after me and that it was real special that they were supporting our family in this way. I let them watch a movie while they ate their dinner this never happens when we have people coming in the evening!
Suddenly it was 7.15 and the first Mum turned up! Somehow we had lost one whole hour!! There were dinner plates all over the coffee table, intermingled with books! The kitchen was a disaster zone, the dining table still had books and papers over it, and the bathroom had not been left ready to bless the next person! I hadnt had a shower!
We all jumped to and got ourselves going top speed. The mum offered to help but she said later on the kids really did it all they had it all under control. By the time I come out, nice and polished, the house was certainly different too. They had all pulled together and got the job done lickety-split.
As I look over the very full day the children have not only occupied themselves, sorted their relational difficulties but they have support the family in the familys goal to bless and serve others. This is truly special My children really did set out to bless me, and they certainly did.
