One of the local jewellery stores has a yearly Christmas
party where she exhibits local artists (and some visiting artists) along with
her pink diamonds. Her party really is
one of the biggest squeezes of the year as far as the social calendar of the
town goes. Anyway she is the
grandmother to one of the homeschooling families in town and has offered the
homeschooling group to exhibit pieces of art at her Exhibition. What a fantastic opportunity for our kids.
So today we had our art workshop. We had previously decided that such a display looks best with
some sort of theme so we chose to make sculptured fish skeletons. Sounds weird but there you go
. Thats
art! No, they look fantastic and even
though there was a guide each child was able to put their own individual touch
to each creation. At todays workshop
each child made one fish and we will have one more workshop so each child has
the opportunity to create 2 fish to display.
Two of the girls have come up with the idea to use homemade
fishing rods and a throw net as the props in actually building a display a
very creative idea that we will run with.
It was just fantastic to see the kids working so hard, every
one of them focused on their task and yet so enjoying spending time with each
other.
