Monday: Today was going to be a good day. We have had a great relaxed weekend. I have done no preparation for any lessons for this week. That is okay; we will do what we can do.
I wanted to do a Monday Homeblessing a term borrowed from Flylady. My goal was to do the regular morning chores plus dust, vacuum, mop and a few windows. Plus I wanted to do a few 15minute task in my bedroom. Well, we got a good portion of that done the rest can be done tomorrow! What we did achieve was about 7 loads of washing. That was a mammoth task well done. It does help that it is now getting hotter and I got the clothes line full dry empty and half full again (all in one day!)
Peter spent some time discussing the things of God with Josh and Jess this morning. This was really a follow up from the weekend / Church meetings etc. It was good to see Petes morning schedule clear up so he had some time to spend with the kids.
In the meanwhile I worked with Nomis math and Daniels Math, Phonics and OT exercises. After morning tea we all discussed Ps1:1b together as a family. This then served as our copywork/handwriting lesson. It was then Daniels OT session during which the other kids notebooked and worked on their discipline studies.
Joshua was excited because the speaker we listened to at a church service last night had had a lot of exposure to Muslim countries and could fill in the gap, answer some questions that Joshua had after reading a little on Muslims/Islam. He is set to Notebook his learning now that those questions have been answered.
Daniel discovered a book on Alexander the Great written in a very casual alive kind of way. He is fascinated with the thought that this man was real alive true! History is coming alive to Daniel.
Nomi is working on various notebook pages on Narnia; the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe in particular.
Jessica got her hands on some organising and tidying tasks during the afternoon.
The best of all for today was the conversations we had as a family. First there was Pete and the kids talking together, especially Pete having an opportunity to share some of his personal story as he has got to know God. Later in the day I was able to share about our more recent journey and the decisions we have made. It made me realise that though I may see myself as a result of the lessons and journey we have been on my children only see me as they see me in the now. It is up to me to show them the journey we have been on, to show them Gods part of that journey, to show them that you grow and change as a result of the challenges God leads you through. This is way today was so good!
