Monday Due to our busy weekend the house looked like a disaster zone. So we delayed our desk work and worked on putting everything in its place. After things were all tidy again we focused on the Hobby Room a room for Joshuas electric train project, a table for creative pursuits and bookcases for the kids interests. Often this room is used as the quick guests are coming where do we put this room. But not any more! We have moved everything out that doesnt belong there we moved it to a right place too! We chose to have the kids sharing a room and having a hobby room for them to create in, instead of a room each. The kids love having this room functioning again.
Jess has set her sewing up on the Hobby Room table. She cut out her pants and tomorrow she will start to sew the seams. She has been very patient with me getting started with this project. Both girls are doing really well with sewing and I can see that we will continue with this for a while. They are both planning their next projects Jess is planning how to use her left over material (Miss Economical) and Nomi is planning something a little more out-there than a pair of shorts (Miss Theatrical). I think they will both do a top/dress (Mrs Practical!)
After we cleaned up the room the kids played Monopoly for the rest of the morning they were supposed to hit their books but it just didnt happen. It was interesting to overhear them talking about their oldest cousin, Jonathan, who, in their opinion can REALLY play Monopoly. They put it down to real life experience. And they may be right! Later in the day Josh and Jess completed their key studies for the day.
Josh and Jess have a few responsibilities around the house for which they get paid. Joshua has been diligently working on his for a year or two but we havent got into the swing of things for Jess yet. Her responsibilities are more in keeping with helping me catch up so it isnt a set chore/task every week. This has made it hard for her to get into it. Today she did some ironing and will do more during the week to help us catch up.
I don’t comment much, but I’m always inspired by your blog! While we do use a curriculum, we are always in “learning” mode just like you are. Thanks for sharing about your days.
