This week has come together with some incredible opportunities. First, the kids have joined with two other homeschool families to create a video project on Ancient Egypt. They are basing their ideas on TV shows, advertising and the News. It has been exciting to see different perspectives, interests and knowledge come as the multi-ages work together. Video-ing happens next week.
The second opportunity is that a friend has offered to spend Saturday with the kids to make a movie. They have found a script. We decided to adapt a skit script into a movie script instead of writing their own.
Yesterday we discussed the script, discussed how a movie is different than putting on a play. A movie can be filmed in “Acts” and then edited together. We watched a snippet of TV to see if we could identify the Acts.
We then broke our script into Acts and discussed what action would take place in each Act. The kids then drew up storyboards for each Act, which includes props and the dialogue.
Early Saturday morning they are going to have to work on props and costumes before the big filming and editing effort begins!
Sounds like such fun!
