Saying goodbye to friends would have to be one of the saddest things to do – at least, it feels like that at the time. Yesterday we spent a day with some family friends who are leaving the area. Their oldest son is Joshua’s best mate, and the Mum and I have great heart to heart conversations on raising our children, homeschooling and God. I will miss her!
Our day started with a race to the grocery store – today was going to be a festive day – a party to celebrate our friendship!
The kids played so well together – as they usually do! The big boys played “Risk” and invited Daniel to join them. Daniel finds the game a little emotionally challenging but he likes to think he can play big boy games. Later on in the day the boys got to creating things with wood (secretive men’s business!)
The girls ended up making a book (Daniel joined in here too) to commemorate their friendship. Nomi wrote up a couple of pages of riddles and Jess wrote a poem. Daniel drew a very detailed picture of 4 funny clowns – he kept the adults informed of why they were so funny as he created these characters. Unfortunately this didn’t evolve into a story but the drawing was fantastic.
We ate, we talked, we laughed, we took photos. We will keep our friends in our hearts!
