We met this month, once again on a Saturday, giving the dads an opportunity to join us. We drove to the Ord Dam, started with a quick picnic afternoon tea and our Character spot and then headed for the boat ramp.
We were fortuntate enough to get a boat (usually does tourist cruises) that would take us all with a skipper who grew up on the lake and know its nooks and crannies, knows its wildlife and where to find them. We had an amazing time. The skipper got the boat up next to the rocks at various times and we saw a snake, a rock wallaby, and a few fresh water crocodiles. We pulled up at a “beach” where the rocks were “ochre” – coloured rock that the aborigines use for their paintings. The kids had a ball finding the right rock, rubbing it hard to get the paint and painting each other.
On our way home we did a bit of croc spotting. We did manage to see a whole croc before it sunk below the waters!
Everyone was really tired by the time we got home but it was such a fantastic day. To see all that water, to consider the engineering of such a feat, but most of all to be in God’s creation was both relaxing and stimulating at the same time!
