Jessica, Nomi and Daniel came into town with me this morning to do our weekly grocery shop while Joshua stayed home and completed his Math and Science.
While in town we picked up a friend of Jessica’s who was going to stay the night. The girls (Jess, her friend and Nomi) spent the afternoon making Pizza for dinner. That evening 3 neighbouring boys (one of which his Joshua’s age) came down for Pizza and a game of Risk.
After dinner – way too much pizza (and I won’t even mention the quadruple recipe of Chocolate Sauce Pudding I made!! Something went wrong with my estimations of how much food people will eat!) Anyway after dinner the boys resumed their game of Risk and the girls pulled out the scrap material box and started planning some sewing projects.
Last weekend a friend (Mrs M.) taught the girls how to make a quick 9 square patch. Jess continued with a project she started last week to put that technique into practice. Jessica’s friend chose a naive appliqué (iron on appliqué with no hemming or overstitching) and will make a small wall quilt. Nomi started a little drawstring pouch made from felt. One of the boys felt that looked like a good project and he started to make a pirates pouch using the same techniques.
The room was full of buzz and it was loud! But it was a lot of fun. It has inspired us to start a Keepers Club – more on that another time.
