Yesterday a friend, who is in town for a while, dropped in to use my patchwork tools. We all scrambled around to find them (they hadn’t been used since last time she was in town! LOL). She wanted to cut her material ready for a patchwork cushion she was making using her daughter-in-laws sewing machine.
After we greeted her, I shooffed the kids off to finish their chores. Then I realised – here was an opportunity….
I let the girls delay their chores (they were hoping I was going to let them off them all together! but no,,, delay!)
The girls watched her as she measured, made sure things were square, discussed and changed her design and altered her cutting accordingly. My friend rose to the occasion and talked while she did this which made it even better.
Learning from people who have passion about their topic is always the best. How easy it would have been to miss this opportunity for the kids to learn from an experienced, talented and passionate person!
Do you have passionate people calling into your home? Take the opportunity…
