The kids helped Peter once again with the weeding in the tree paddock – this is going to be a major project for our family over the next year or two. Joshua will have a go at watering again this week – last time he had an accident and didn’t get to actually start the irrigation – better luck this time!
While the kids were all down the paddock Daniel and I worked on his lessons. We started with his new video instruction phonics programme and he did very well. He has been working on pencil grip with the OT for about 6 months and not progressing and yet with some simple instructions on the video he has got it. He still slips into bad grip but alters it himself before he starts writing most times.
We then read “Seven Blind Mice” for our math lesson. Over the next few months we will be using literature to direct our math concepts. I have been inspired, motivated and educated about this at www.livingmath.net . With this one book we are reviewing colours, days of the week, and ordinal numbers. We are reading it www.fiveinarow.com style, once a day for a week!
We are reading a FIAR book as well, Miss Rumphius. This has been a bit stretched out as we have had many interruptions to our days. Daniel is still enjoying the story. We went out to our vegie patch to look at some of the little seeds that are just pushing up dirt. Daniel took photos, which we printed out, for his notebook page.
When everyone else got back home, they rested and then worked on their independent studies while I worked in the office. We didn’t get to our Character lessons today!
