Why is it that drizzle just makes every one go slow! I spent time this morning going over our routine, making sure that we can make Daniel’s lessons a priority. I wonder at our routine changing so often but that is the thing about life – things happen! Priorities change! Kids grow and have different needs!
Monday is our Bedroom Bless day – the kids get in and clean their bedrooms – cobwebs, airconditioners, fingerprints, windows, sheets, floor, cupboards. Today – because of the go-slow – we just did the highest priority tasks.
Daniel had another excellent lesson –he suddenly realised he was reading – what a precious moment! Sure, it was only a 2 letter word but things clicked for him, he asked if by the end of the course would he be able to read? This seemed to motivate him.
We finished our lesson with Seven Blind Mice – though he is still getting some colours mixed up we will move on. Daniel is ready for another story to be read to him. We will spend a few days with Very Hungry Caterpillar, once again reviewing the days of the week.
We didn’t get to FIAR today. I decided a Character lesson was much more important. Josh found various quotes on “Truthfulness” and Jessica struggled with the place for Tactfulness – is being tactful saying the whole truth. It is such a fine line, and a line that no doubt gets blurred often. Nomi worked on her Truthfulness Notebook pages.
This afternoon was very productive – the girls worked on several notebook pages (written pieces), Josh completed his Science, and Daniel played Lego. He played contendedly by himself for over 2 hours – something that hasn’t happened for a while! He is really enjoying Lego, which is great considering his delay in fine motor skills. Today he created a horse pulled catapult which also carried "humans" and he did this without following any instructions. It is great to see his imagination come to play.
