During the last few months the boys have had Cricket every Saturday morning. The girls usually have a netball season at the same time but there was not enough girls in the town interested so that didn’t happen. Since the girls were going to be at the court, while the boys played cricket nearby, the girls were going to join with a few other homeschool girl-friends and toss the ball around. But… one of our friends, who has played and coached competitive Netball, offered to do some training with the girls.
She was amazing! She started right from the beginning of training their muscles to respond and be fit. Then she worked towards the girls being thinking players and then today she put it all together with a few game moves. There wasn’t enough of them to play a game but they had so much fun and learnt so much.
This weekend is our local Writers Festival. This has been going on for a few years now and our kids have always been involved. We were invited to join the school classes for a few sessions on Friday but didn’t get there. Late Saturday morning there were a few workshops on offer with illustrators and artists. Jess and Nomi got to spend some time with Jeannie Baker who does amazing collage work. Daniel spent time with Frane Lassac, a painter and writer. Daniel’s workshop had each child planning and creating a book. Daniel only got 2 out of 6 pages completed but we have the instructions to finish it off – this will be Daniel’s project this coming week.
