This week has flown by – we haven’t had the academic week that I planned for. Not to worry – my plans will wait another week. Though we haven’t reached many of our goals, it has been a good week with plenty of interaction with other people, lots of discussions amongst ourselves and our chores are getting done!
Monday
The kids are sick – again – this time tummy bugs of varying degrees. We are taking today easy. Character studies for everyone – today’s lessons on Generosity focused on the pelican – a drawing, and a summaries paragraph using keyword outline technique. Daniel gave me an oral narration of “What I know about Pelican’s” which I typed out for him to complete his notebook page.
Tuesday
I’m sick! The older two worked on their independent studies today, we managed a session on Character and I read a few books to Daniel but that is about as far as we got.
Wednesday
Today is catch up day – the kids need to be down on the tree paddock, I have loads of washing to catchup on, cooking and food prep to do. I read stories to Daniel and he worked on some craft projects.
Thursday
Dropped Jess off at mainly music, had a “date” with Daniel while we were in town. He had a milkshake and we played a card game. It was a good time. He needs more practice in number recognition – I am sure he struggles with memory recall, but that means we just need more and more practice. We had Keepers in the afternoon, the girls started to cut out their appliqué for their quilts. We have a fair bit of “homework” to do this week.
Friday
We had morning tea with a friend who lives out of town and has come up for the weekend. A few other mums joined us as well, this gave the kids a great play date for the morning. Before our visitors arrived the kids did a row of tree pruning – they are slowly chipping away at it this week – a bit hard since we’ve had so much else going on. They also completed another row before dark.
Josh and Jess had youth group tonight so Daniel and Nomi had “video night” by themselves.
Saturday
We have visitors arriving so I am off now to get the house all spick and span! I also need to do a quick grocery shop while Jess is in town for a music practice for Church tomorrow. We are all very excited about seeing these friends again – Josh and his friend will camp out in the tent for the two nights. Who knows what other adventures they will get up to!
