Setting goals is a helpful activity for a few reasons:
1. It gives you a vision for what lays ahead – something to work towards
2. It gives you clear guidelines of where to spend your energies
3. It gives you a learning tool, as you analyze your successes and failures and motivates you to change.
So as I plan for this coming week I have a quick review of last week. I note what we achieved, what we didn’t achieve. I look at why. I look at the consequences – both positive and negative. And I hopefully learn to do something things better in the coming week.
Last week was a very busy week with lots of commitments outside of the home which made reaching all our set goals a little difficult
I did start my own bible study on Authenticity and am both enjoying it and learning from it. I haven’t fine-tuned Nomi and Daniel’s personal devotion time yet.
Our house was clean and tidy and ready for our weekend guests. Though I didn’t get office work done – I think need to allocate an Office Day once a month so I am not continually pushing this work to be done at night time – when it just doesn’t happen!
We did start our lesson on Generosity though I am doing it by the seat of my pants – I need to spend a little time studying this trait this coming week.
Any lessons that happened in this past week were purely accidental or self-initiated by the children. I did allow more creative time in the afternoons and that paid off – Daniel is making stuff again. He created something that was in his dreams one night. Nomi is putting her hand at making a stuffed toy.
Though we have had a few lessons in spending money we haven’t got to recording our budget. I know this is the wrong way around!
The children had one session each in the kitchen with me – cooking rice, or salad, or helping with some raw food prep.
In summary: Though I didn’t reach many of the specific goals I set out to achieve the overall goal always is to worship God first in every day. This happens in our dedicated time to Him as well in our time with others as well as at times of work. The final litmus test is the peace and harmony in our home regardless of the circumstances that arrive at our door step and therefore we had a great week this last week.
