Today is a busy day – not as if our other days haven’t been full, they have, but today we head out of our home – that is what makes it busy. We truly had to have our morning routine on track for the day to be a success.
We were out the door at 8.00am with all the morning chores done, a few phone calls made and everyone with shoes, water bottle and backpack ready for today’s activities.
We dropped Jess off at Mainly Music. She arrives early to help with the setting up.
Josh walked to the library from there. He used the morning for his regular study of Math, Science, History and Writing as well as giving himself some browsing time. He loves to be at the library.
The two youngest and I headed to a local park for our Nature Study. Using “A Wonderland of Nature” a book written with Australian nature in mind we read about insects. We then took the camera off to see if we could capture any on film (what do you “capture” on when using digital – pixels??) We then headed back to the library where another homeschool mum was going to give the young kids a lesson on using the Library. They identified various parts of the library – where to find what and then looked at the catalogue system and even put a few books into alphabetical order.
After a bit of a catch up with the mums we headed off to do our grocery shop. I must admit I didn’t make any “educational” use of this task – it just had to get done! I so enjoy shopping with Jess these days – she does ½ the list and I do the other ½ – that to make a mental shift to shopping with the youngest two is a bit of an effort. But I need to do that before next week.
After Mainly Music Jess was dropped off at a friends place who is helping her play some church music on the piano. They spent about ½ hour together.
This afternoon we had our Creative Club (on the lines of Keepers) where the girls are oh-so close to finishing their quilt. It has been a huge project for them – probably too big for their first project but they have all done very well. We are hoping to finish in about 2 weeks when we will start crocheting.
