Decluttering
Have you ever got a buz in your head and a determination to do something NOW – even if it doesn’t make sense! Well, that was how we started our day. Still all in our PJays I decided to move my office around. I really like the layout now and intend to buy some office furniture to maximize space more and try and find homes for all my piles! One of the most helpful decluttering pieces of advice I have ever heard is to start off with making homes for stuff and then when you find something in the wrong place (like a pile) you have a home for it. Makes sense!
Talking talking talking
Since today was supposed to be an independent study day for the older two and a keep busy without mum day for the younger two things were poking along but being fairly productive. Until Josh and I got talking about having convictions, about sharing them even if you think there is no possibility of convincing the other person. We went around and around a lot of things. It is always good to talk and encourage the development of values.
Reading Journals
We ended up talking about Reading Journals. We need to pick up some discipline in this area of our learning. At the moment reading journals only get done when the kids think of it and I’d like a season where they are done daily. I want them to have the discipline of pausing to ponder about a section they’ve read before they presume they don’t have anything to write for the day. We are going to have a timeslot over the next few weeks were we start a read aloud for the purpose of practicing our reading journaling. We are going to read a collection of Australian Bush stories.
Little Miss Giggle
Jess came into town with me after lunch. I had an optometrist appointment – I now need reading glasses. The optometrist assures me I’m of “that age”!
We ducked into Target to buy a Little Miss Giggles t.shirt for Jess. So appropriate – her blog is called Little Miss Giggle for a reason!
Girls night out
After a quick bite of pizza the girls and I dashed out the door for our girls movie night. One of the local churches has a big screen and plan on showing monthly movies. We watched the 3rd in the series of “Love comes Softly”. We were all so exciting driving into town – music blaring, lots of giggles. It was fun to be out with my girls –not that they sat with me during the movie mind, no they sat with their friends!! But that was okay. It was a great night, thoroughly enjoyed by all
Boys stayed home
Daniel watched Mr Beans Holiday Movie
Peter and Josh played Risk. Early in the day I gave Josh a website that gave hints on how to teach someone rules to a game. It was a helpful thing for Josh to read as not only is he often in this situation but he can often loose people in the details. So other than the relationship time Josh had with Pete is was good for him to be able to put what he had read into practice and notice where he needs to work on it.
