Guests for dinner
We’ve got visitors coming for dinner tonight so I have to get those piles away from the dining room table! That’s motivation!
After the house was all caught up Jess and I made two Crème Caramels for dinner tonight. I don’t particularly like sharing my kitchen with anyone so teaching my children to cook has been challenging. But it has been necessary so I have found a few strategies that has made it easier for me. One of them is to work side by side – I show them and they do it, we make double. It seems to help me if my hands are cooking as well. I don’t butt in and take over, I don’t get cranky and want everyone out of my kitchen!! So we have two Crème Caramels for dinner. There were a few new techniques for Jess – scalding milk and toffee (beginnings of).
Later in the day Nomi helped me with the potatoes and I prepared seasoned chicken drumsticks.
Baby shower
I was invited to the baby shower of the daughter of our oldest friends in town. It was lunch at the Country Club with the normal baby shower games sprinkled around. I felt my age!! Only three of us had children (grandmother to be aside) and the other mums were just starting their family! The give away was a baby photo competition. The photo I grabbed, without thinking much, was of my christening, my mum’s hat and the car in the background are a dead giveaway!
