Chia is a fairly new product here in Australia and to be honest the only reason I know much about it is because friends are growing it. This is what is said about Chia:
Chiatah is a gluten free wholefood naturally rich in Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids, fibre and protein, not to mention a comprehensive range of nutrients, vitamins and minerals.
If you are interested in this health food go and read more on the Australian site and this site.
Generally we are adding it to our cereal in the morning. For our family it is the additional Omega-3 fatty acids and fibre (being specific needs in a few of our family members) but the general overall healthy addition to our diet is worth it as well.
This week I found a bundle of recipes from the raw food community and I am going to try a few of these. Yesterday I made Chia Pudding. It was so easy to do. Of course I tweaked it a bit to suit what ingredients I had – I used almonds instead of cashews to make the nut milk, and I used maple syrup (and no almond extract). It didn’t take overnight – just 10-15minutes and the chia was soft and ready to go. (Now it might be nicer if you wait overnight but I couldn’t wait!) I servedit with bananas, sultanas and a little extra honey!
Chia Pudding will be a regular in my diet now. Google for chia puddings and see the variety – I’m going to try a mango pudding next, or maybe cream and berries, or maybe chocolate! And all healthy!
Chia pudding sounds amazing!
Oh, by the way, I've tagged you for a meme, that is if you have time.
