Thursday is a day where I get to spend some time with Daniel. Jess and Nomi have Mainly Music and Josh often works, and if he isn’t working he studies independently anyway.

Once again I wasn’t prepared for an early morning shopping so we just drove into town in time for the girls to set up Mainly Music. Daniel and I helped a little and then we left them too it.

I decided that since we didn’t have groceries to unpack that we could take some time to do something special. I told Daniel we were going out for a milkshake but he had to ‘take me out’ – that is, he had to place the order and pay for it. He was a bit concerned that he didn’t bring any money but I assured him he could use my money (since it was my idea) and just practice. While we sat in the café we talked, we played Tipover (he did better than me!) and we had a little reading time by ourselves.

I often think that us mums baulk at teaching our sons these ‘manly’ things – we think our husbands ‘should’ be doing it. May be, may be not. I’ve recently done a study on the widow and the oil. Elisha asked her what she had in her house. Another time God asked Moses what he had in his hand. God wants to use what we have – if we have time with our sons, if we have a teaching opportunity we need to take it and God will look after the rest.

Once we got home Daniel played with some Lego nearby while I prepared some food in the kitchen. Then it was lesson time.

We did science which included some notebooking. Then he worked on his math from yesterday (finding out how to ‘make’ various numbers.)  He also read to me.

Lunch and Chore time. The lawn didn’t get finished yesterday so he needed to work on that again.
