Here are some links to the things Ive been reading lately
The Power of the Bedroom This article is encouraging its readers to keep the master bedroom as a place of private retreat. I must admit my bedroom has two aspects of dumping I dump my ironing there and I dump my education resources. I was hoping to get my resources into order during this study break but not sure Im going to get there. Ill keep working on it!
Letting Go of Curriculum Guilt Samantha writes about something that I think hits nearly every homeschool mum. We need to see our curriculum as a resource to help us meet our goals and if it is not we need to let go
Its not what they do, its what you do about it that counts never a truer reminder for parenting.
http://www.homeschoolhelper.com/brainstrategies.html – Ive still got this webpage open in my browswer as I want to dig deeper but this article itself gave me something to think about One question I asked myself was, have I created an atmosphere were my children can make mistakes? And secondly, How can I increase games, drama, music and art in our days?
My friend, Jo at Quirky Cooking has inspired me to prepare lunches (well, I cant see myself doing this everyday but once in a while) Ive got heaps of eggs in the fridge so this maybe lunch today: Sunny Scalloped Eggs and Broccoli (or Silverbeet)
Ive been planning lessons for our next study block so I visited this site again for a quick look around. Internet4Classrooms. I love the math skills help (look under Grade Level Help). I often get the kids to practice a skill using these online games.
Next week we start Scripture Memorisation Ive wanted to do this for a long time but havent got there. This week I decided to go with the ideas presented on Simply Charlotte Mason. She has outlined a simple and yet I believe effective system of both memorisation and review. She also lists some scripture verses (to which I am going to add family favourites or ones that come up in our life or study so it isnt a stagnate list). I appreciate Sonjas perspective here that scripture memorisation isnt a party trick it isnt a performance it is a spiritual discipline.
Since Im going to be doing some scrapbooking over the next few days Ive had a quick look at these few scrapbooking sites to be inspired:
Pixels2pages (digital scrapbooking)
