As I have said the month of June has been spent on creative projects. The cut off point is the local Agricultural Show (which is this week). This year the organisers are limiting 2 items per category per exhibitor which has slowed down things a bit but it has been good because the kids have to choose which is their best-best work and be content with that.
Anyway June is over, Show is nearly here and it is now time to shift gear and change focus once again. The month of July is going to be about family, visitors, camping and seminars. We have visitors arriving this week. After the Ag.Show Pete has a quiet spot with his work and well head bush for a few days camping. The national directors of Growing Families Australia will be here in town and weve organised two seminars; one on Communication and Conflict Resolution and the other on Parenting. It is go-go-go for the month of July.
The only way through crazy seasons of life is to determine what is the main focus of this season of life and then arrange your commitments to match. This includes school. We maintain a structure to our days and yet those hours are filled with different things than when we have learning as our focus (or traditional learning / school as our focus). Learning still happens though. There will be learning as we get the guest room ready and prepare the shed for a caravan. There will be learning as we get together for family devotions. There will be learning as we continue to read our family read aloud. There will be learning as we prepare for camping, buy food, and pack the trailer. There will be learning as we sit around the campfire talking and laughing. There will be learning as the kids either participate in the seminar or run a kids programme. There will be learning it will just look different.
When we go through different seasons and dont tweak our commitments to fit we find ourselves in overload and we quickly become unfocused and unproductive. It makes sense to tweak.
