Tuesday is our work day – the kids do those extra chores around the house – some they get paid for, some they don’t. The jobs they don’t get paid for are jobs they are in-training for, one day they’ll be paid for. The pre-requisite for a job being a paid job is that
- 1. It is not a part of our regular chores – they are done because the family home needs taking care of.
- 2. Most of these chores are my responsibilities that I don’t get to and need help with
- 3. They need to do it to the standard that I would accept from an adult, should I be paying an adult
- 4. It is my decision – not theirs.
Joshua has a job outside of the home so he only helps out when necessary (moving him out of the equation gave me an opportunity to give responsibilities to the other children.)
Last Friday he did his own ironing (no $$ for that!) This week he continued to study.
Jessica helps me in the office. Last week she cleaned the office and found homes for piles of stuff. This week she sorted mail, wrapped up parcels, worked on some administrative details for me. A great help. We got through a lot of work together.
Nomi helps with the housework that I need to catch up on. Some jobs she gets paid for, some she is in training for. Last week she gave the lounge room a deep clean and this week she did her dad’s ironing.
Daniel looks after outside things and occassionally a bit on the inside too. Last week he washed the car and this week he mowed the lawn.
It is a good feeling to be working all together and get these extra types of chores out of the way.
Well done you guys! I can understand why you needed to do all that catchup work after having us all staying with you for 3 days. Thanks a lot for that! 🙂
This Tuesday was too much fun for me!!
I love working with you!
Love
Jess
