I wasnt too sure at first if I wanted a whiteboard to me it smacked of school and I was trying to walk away from those practices. In the end Im glad we put one in the family room. It gets used for brainstorming, planning, explaining things and the kids love drawing on it.
Sometimes we come up with some great words, or illustration and we want to keep it but it is arduous having to retype it or redraw it how we wished we knew we were going to do such good work and we would have done it on paper!!
What works for us is we take a photo of our whiteboard. We then have a permanent record of the work we have done.
