Over the last little while (too long, because we’ve had so many interruptions), I’ve been reading Discovering Jesus in Genesis to Nomi and Daniel for our Bible Study. This is what the back cover has to say:
The Bible is a treasure chest of wisdom and knowledge. But it is most magnificent riches are those that reveal the mystery of God – namely, His Son Jesus Christ. Imagine teaching your children, that, day after day, they can discover something new about God and His Son in every page of the Bible – from Genesis to Revelation! What a gift to give them! So send your kids on a treasure hunt in the Word with Caleb and Cassie where they’ll learn some of the important things that the Bible teaches about God’s character and how they can apply Scripture to their lives.
Both my kids enjoyed the story; a group of children with the help of an elderly neighbour, discovered what it means to be a covenant kid – If you will be my people, I will be your God. Daniel in particular has started to see this promise in other studies we talk about.
In the end – I cried! I cry with lots of kids stories – they touch my heart in someway. But as the story came to a close, I could see these kids that we had journeyed with came to a place where they responded to circumstances and people with a love of Jesus and a faith that God was in control. That is my heart for my children, and in sharing this story we have been able to discuss that and give them opportunity to respond the same.
