Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, (2 Corinthians 5:20) … wherever we go we represent Christ. And people will be watching. This is a truth in tension – we need to build a strong and true reputation with man (if we can) … For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men. (2 Corinthians 8”21)
God’s standards though are different than man’s: For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart 1 Samuel 16:7
There is a saying “Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society.” (Mark Twain) How true! How we dress, which is the external, will influence how people think of you. But at no time should you disregard the Lord’s instruction here either.
Do not let your adorning be external … but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. I Peter 3:3-4
How we dress, how we carry ourselves, and how we conduct ourselves tell people what is going on in the inside.
