Romans 12:4-6 for as in one physical body we have many parts and all of these parts do not have the same function or use, so we numerous as we are, are one body in Christ …. Having gifts (faculties, talents, qualities) that differ according to the grace given us, let us use them….
We are all made different and God’s purposes will use that variety. If we are to live like a body then we need to recognise the gifts, talents and strengths in each other and in ourselves, and find ways to complement each other instead of compete.
A body works together towards the same end. Each person in our family has something that they can contribute to the running of our household and the encouragement of others.
We should neither be proud of what we can do and in our pride disregard our need for another (Proverbs 29:23) neither should we be lazy and not develop what God has given us (remember the man with the one talent who did not even go to the bank – wicked servant!)
We need each other if we are to fulfill God’s plan for our life. This is true for both the natural family and the family of God.
