The Bible tells us to seek wisdom, that it will greatly benefit you. (Proverbs 3:13-18).

Wisdom in the world means that you are clever, smart, educated but it doesn’t mean that to God.  In the Hebrew ‘wisdom’ implies skilful living, another definition would be  “practical application of knowing Jesus’.   As you get to know Jesus, as you walk with Him, you will become like Him.  You will gain wisdom.  Other words that Proverbs use to describe wisdom are:   discernment, understanding, insight, discretion, prudence, knowledge.

Psalm 111:10 – The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, all those who practice it have good understanding.

You cannot have wisdom, not true wisdom, apart from your relationship with God.

Man pursues the knowledge of this world, but as followers of Christ, we must pursue Him and in doing so we will gain knowledge and understanding of an eternal value, this will change how we live.

Mark 8:36  For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?

We need to guard our heart, mind and soul and not be attracted to the accolades of wisdom of this world, but instead pursue godly wisdom which starts with a worshipful fear of the Lord.
