Just because we know we aren’t Wonder-woman doesn’t mean we don’t set our expectations as if we were! But we aren’t! Here are 3 things to do when you realise you can’t do everything.
– Decide what is truly important
– Let go of other things
– Make time for the important things to happen
It seems simple when you see it as a list but in reality, it is hard and it takes practice. We have to be convinced of what is truly important – once we know that – really know that – then it is easier to do the other 2 steps.
We need to be aware of when we are trying to do too much – and then we need to slow it down and be INTENTIONAL about redirecting ourselves.
As a mum, there is always so much to do. And though generally speaking multi-tasking is not a helpful habit to get into – there is one multi-tasking that is a mother’s go-to. And that is to use the tasks and events of family life as an opportunity to train our children, an opportunity to bless someone else, an opportunity to do the right thing or grow within ourselves.
But when we get distracted with just getting the task done, we lose those opportunities and we can never get that time back.
We need to be proactive about how we spend our time. Make a plan. Be aware of the choices we are making. Know our weaknesses and work on overcoming them.
Don’t let the opportunities of this week slip by because of being task orientated or being distracted.
