Practice living your values every day
Every parent dreams of raising well-rounded children. But how can we teach them all the things when our days are so busy?
In this week’s podcast, I share 3 tips that can be done in your home, or in the car, or waiting in a line.

Do you know the values you build your family life on? Are you communicating them to your kids?
What is going to be your Legacy?
Something to think about: Your character (your values in action) will be your legacy regardless of what your children achieve!
Your legacy is your character – how you lived, the choices you made, the values you upheld.
If that includes raising children who love God and love others – that is great.
But your children will have to make their own choices, and establish their own legacy.
We cannot define ourselves as parents first and foremost.
We are a woman (or man) made in the image of God.
We, as a Christian, are redeemed, restored, and renewed in Christ.
From that basis we have to make all our choices – including how we parent.
Are you living true to the values you hold? Do your daily actions reflect what you believe to be right and true? Not only are your children watching, but so is your community.
Let’s be people of character.
Do your Actions Line up with your Values?
Are you a parent of integrity?
Do you actions as a parent (how you interact with your child and how you do what is best for your child) consistent with your values?
Would your child consider you their role model when it comes to the things you are teaching them?
- Self-control
- Truthfulness
- Patience
- Diligence
- Responsibility
- Kindness
To be a parent of integrity we must live out what we say is important – what we say is true and right and good. Our actions must match our words.
That being said – we’ll make mistakes – but do we also hold to the values of humility, honesty, repentance, forgiveness, and grace? If we live out those values when we make mistakes we are still being people of integrity.
What do you think about aiming for integrity as a parent?
We have to be Intentional
We can do a lot of parenting on the run: our lives are busy and our children flow and fit in with all that needs to be done.
The one thing that cannot be done on the fly is understanding your beliefs and values. You need to give that some thinking time.
If you don’t know what you believe and why you believe it – how can you teach it to your kids?
If you can’t articulate a belief or value how are you going to teach it to your kids.
Teaching beliefs and values is the core role of the parent. We need to put in the work.
Message me if this is hard and I’ll share some tips with you.
