Our Family Bible Verse

Do you have a verse that has been so timely, so significant that it has shaped your life?

Psalm 37:3 is that verse for Peter and me.

When we moved across Australia, to a remote town, this was the verse we clung to. We believed we were to dwell in this land and feed on His faithfulness.

God has been so faithful. In the material world, in our relationships, in our health, in our family, and in our spiritual journeys. He has been faithful to Peter and me – and to each of our kids.

One of the things that I wanted our kids to know is that God is a God who does not change – He was faithful to us, He will be faithful to you.

👉 Do you have a verse that grounds you when life feels uncertain or full?

Take a moment this week to reflect on a Scripture that reminds you of who God is and what He’s called your family to. Let it shape the way you show up – faithfully and intentionally.

Living with Virtue or Vice?

How you treat people and how you respond in circumstances will depend on the values you hold.

Will you respond with patience or impatience

Will you respond with timeliness or tardiness?

Will you respond with diligence or laziness?

Will you respond with enthusiasm or boredom?

Another way to say it would be virtue or vice.

The more you practice making choices that reflect virtue, you will be known for having good character, but the more you practice the vices, you will be known for having poor character.

Parenting hack: When you see your child’s behaviour, identify the vice (that’s the easy bit) and then learn about the missing virtue. Teach the virtue. Practicing making choices based on that character trait (virtue). And watch your child’s behaviour change!

Send me an email if you’d like help to find the right words to introduce a character trait to your kids. I’ll help you out.

Your Unique Family

Family is the place where we grow as strong individuals, and where we know we belong. It’s where character is shaped, faith is formed, and purpose is discovered.

But this kind of family culture doesn’t happen by accident.

It grows when parents lead with intention.

When we stop to ask:

👉 What matters most to us?

👉 What kind of atmosphere do we want to create?

👉 What things do we want to do with our time on earth?

👉 What motivations and responses do we want to cultivate?

That’s what a family vision is all about.

It’s not a complicated document or a lofty dream.

It’s a simple, guiding compass to help you stay focused on what is important as your family grows.

Don't let someone else be the Influencer in your Child's life

Who is influencing your child? Who is telling them what is right, true or good? If you aren’t, someone else will be.

It might be screens, peers, teachers, or books.

Growing up is about learning to understand the world in which they live – and if you don’t teach them, someone else will.

For sure, they pick up stuff from just seeing you do things – but unless they understand why it is right, true or good, they’ll just see it as something mum and dad did and they won’t give it a 2nd thought.

You can’t control what your children will believe or value or feel – but you can give them an understanding of God’s values and perspective and help them to process their world through His lens.

Are you learning how to do that?
